AFSCME Council 18

Blood, Sweat and Cheers!

Council 18 has started up their community service team, the AFSCME Community Team (ACT). Their first project was on August 18thand 28 volunteers participated. It focused on providing helping hands to seniors. They met at 9:30 in the south valley near the clients' homes and then split into two teams.

For the first home, 16 volunteers showed up to clean the clients yard, shed and haul trash to the dump. They ended up taking 6 truckloads of trash to the dump.

At the 2nd home, 12 volunteers cut weeds, trimmed trees and hauled off 3 truckloads of trash. In addition they repainted the interior of her mobile home. The projects were completed by 3:00. Thank you, metro AFSME members, for lending a hand.
