Albuquerque, NM 87110
Good morning AFSCME Leaders and Activists,
AFSCME Council 18 is pleased to offer a two-day OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health training on January 23-24, Thursday and Friday, at the AFSCME Council 18 Lujan Union Hall, in Albuquerque, as part of our ELITE training program. The training is being conducted by AFSCME International Health and Safety Specialist Keith Wrightson, from Washington, DC.
The purpose of the class is to promote workplace safety and health and to make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards. The training teaches recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. This course also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint. The training was designed to help workers stay up-to-date with OSHA safety requirements.
We are inviting AFSCME leaders and activists who can immediately use this information in their workplace. As a local president, if you have assigned health and safety responsibilities to a chief steward or stewards, please send them to this training.
Several of the AFSCME local union contracts provide for union time to attend such substantive trainings in their workplace. For those who do not have this provision, please let me know and we can arrange loss time (reimbursement) for the training, as well as provide lodging, if
needed.
The training will begin at 9:00am each day, and conclude by 4:00pm. Upon completion of the two-day training, the participants will receive an OSHA 10 card, as well as a certificate.
This is an extremely valuable training and is not held on a regular basis so please take advantage of this training!
The class is limited to 40 participants so please RSVP as soon as possible!!
